Black Mambas Keep Streak Alive with Late Rally
|
Austin picked up a win at Mamba Park, toppling the Jersey City Tritons, 2-1. Pitcher Edemona Babitu was one of the reasons the Black Mambas triumphed. The 6th-place Black Mambas have won 4 consecutive games.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, second baseman Cory Clayton won it for Austin. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Clayton hit a 0-1 curveball from Edwin Perry for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Clayton said. "That's how it goes."
