Squirrel Monkeys Snag 2-0 Win
|
Alaskan pitcher Gene Scott gave the Squirrel Monkeys all they could handle, but in the end, Syracuse left Sea World with a win, 2-0. Scott allowed no runs on 1 hit over 7 innings. Thomas Sangrey collected save number 18. The third-place Squirrel Monkeys improved to 32-29.
Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Colton Pennington to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Pennington said after the game.
