Thunderbirds Top Blitzkrieg, 6-0

The Hamilton Thunderbirds topped the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, 6-0, in M3L Triple A action at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. The game was highlighted by the performance of Hamilton pitcher Raúl Martínez. In 7.2 innings, Martínez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. With the win, the Thunderbirds improved to 51-45.
Greg Erwin put Hamilton in front, 3-0, when he took Mike Thornton downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 5th home run of the season.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Erwin said in reaction to the win.
