In a close game at The Zoo in Syracuse, the Alaskan Humpbacks edged the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 5-4. Alaskan first baseman Steve Covington stood apart with his performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Humpbacks go to 26-21, putting them first in the Premier AAA.

Covington had a timely hit for Alaskan in the top of the eighth. With Syracuse trailing 4-3, he turned a full count fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season, making it 5-4, Alaskan.

"I was a little disappointed," said Syracuse manager Scott Garrison. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
