Port Huron Blitzkrieg starter Mike Thornton was in fine form against the Sioux Falls Red Pandas at The Bamboo Forest, leading his team to a win, 4-3. The winning pitcher was Thornton, now 6-5. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Rich Walker sewed up the save, his 22nd.
It could have been a different outcome for Port Huron, had it not been for Mauro Quijano, the 22-year old left fielder . Quijano contributed a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put Port Huron up, 2-0.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Thornton.
Port Huron leads the Menard's AAA by 3½ games.
