Monongahela Drops Kansas, 2-1
|
The Monongahela Monsters did just enough to secure a victory over the Kansas Rainbeaus, 2-1, at Wichita Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Júlio Castillo. Castillo picked up the win for Monongahela, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. Their 12-15 record puts the Monsters 9th in the Premier AAA.
The result might have been different for Monongahela, had it not been for Dave Hall, the 30-year old third baseman . Hall stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Monongahela up, 2-1. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Monongahela manager Sancho Tornero said.
