Hot Chickens Squelch Lake Monsters Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Nashville Hot Chickens and the Vermont Lake Monsters, Greg Hicks was the difference-maker. The Nashville right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. Hicks, now 4-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing no runs. The 4th-place Hot Chickens go to 38-35.
Pakomio Alepeleke, the 26-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Alepeleke contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Nashville up, 2-0.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Hicks said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
