The timely hitting of Andrew Smith helped the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds down the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 8-7. Smith was 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles for the Fighting Dachshunds. Ellenburg, at 25-31, sits in 11th place in the Menard's AAA.

Smith had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch sinker from Rommel Nierva, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Fighting Dachshunds a 8-7 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Smith.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Hamilton manager Leonard Hall. "But we decided not to take it."
