Ellenburg played host to Calgary at Dog Park in Ellenburg.
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds beat the Calgary Lynx, 4-2. Ellenburg pitcher and Bloomington, Illinois, native Thomas Canó led the way. Hai-liang Che recorded the save, his 2nd.
With runs few and far between, the Fighting Dachshunds had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Ellenburg came in the bottom of the third inning, when right fielder Bake McBride delivered a 2-run single. The single was hit off Alfredo Morales and made the score 3-1, Fighting Dachshunds. McBride was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"I like what I saw today," said Ellenburg manager Justin Broadfoot, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Fighting Dachshunds improve their record to 23-28 with the win over Calgary.
