|
San Mateo starter José Hernández put a stranglehold on the Pittsburgh offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Dirty Reds to a 2-1 win. Hernández picked up the win for San Mateo, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 1-3. The Dirty Reds, at 18-15, sit in 5th place in the Premier League.
In the bottom of the seventh, San Mateo right fielder Marcos Janero gave his team the lead. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Dynamo hit his 7th double of the year. Pittsburgh pitcher António Haritos surrendered it. With that, the Dirty Reds jumped in front, 2-1.
"José just went about his business, throwing strikes," said San Mateo manager David Dodds.
