Reserves Prevail, 5-4, Over Baton Rouge
|
Gary Bly was a vital contributor to the 5-4 Athletic Club KC victory over Baton Rouge. The Reserves second baseman went 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Anthony Newman. His record is now 1-0. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Reserves. The loss drops the Brass to 4-3.
With Athletic Club KC leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Bly hit a 2-run single off Baton Rouge hurler Lance Barber. It was the 5th hit of the season for Bly and put his team ahead, 4-1.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Baton Rouge manager Daniel Edwards. "The effort was great."
