Hot Chickens Drop Contest, 6-1, to Ellenburg
|
Starting pitcher Rick Dunlap took care of business, helping the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds stifle the Nashville Hot Chickens, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Dunlap, now 2-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 2. The Fighting Dachshunds are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 7th win in 19 games.
The game could have flipped with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. But Rick Dunlap made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Nashville trailing 2-0, Dunlap threw a fastball to Yoshihide Tanaka and Tanaka hit into a double play.
