Stark Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Syracuse Starks and Bakersfield Nobles.
Yamato Sato was a vital contributor to the 5-3 Bakersfield victory over Syracuse. The Nobles first baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Bakersfield reliever Bob Hollingsworth was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Mike Park. Joo-hyun Pak, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Sato delivered big-time for Bakersfield, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Mike Park. The game-changing hit put the Nobles on top, 5-3.
