Syracuse Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys faced a tough opponent in Athletic Club KC pitcher Anthony Newman, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Zoo in Syracuse by a final score of 2-1. Newman went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Syracuse reliever Shuji Ando picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Nicholas Beer took the loss. The loss drops the Reserves to 1-1.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Syracuse trailing 1-0, Charles Gamble hit a splitter from Nicholas Beer for a 2-run home run, giving the Squirrel Monkeys the walk-off win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Gamble said.
