Nashville beat Calgary at Lynx Stadium, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Richard Carter. He slugged 3 home runs. The winner was Nashville reliever Armando Mata, now 1-0. The loser was Doug Owen. The loss drops Calgary to 0-2.

Carter had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Doug Owen, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Hot Chickens a 4-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Carter.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Carter told the Nashville Observer.
