Battery Clip Condor, 3-2
|
The Charleston Battery did just enough to secure a victory over the Santa Catalina Condor, 3-2, at Charleston Armory. Nobody did more than pitcher Paul Haines. The winner was Charleston reliever Denis Jongenelen, now 2-2. The loser was Rhys Tregelles. The victory puts Charleston at 12-22.
In the bottom of the sixth, Charleston designated hitter Stu Hamilton put his team on top. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit his 9th double of the year. Santa Catalina pitcher Rhys Tregelles served it up. Just like that, the Battery were ahead, 3-2.
Hamilton called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
