Lighthouse Clip Divided, 2-1
|
Long Island beat D.C. on the strength of starter Manuel Martínez's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Martínez got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. Martínez allowed 1 run. Christopher Tracy was called on to finish, recording his 7th save.
Long Island relied on the bat of Muneyaki Hayashi to get the win. The first baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Lighthouse ahead, 2-0. For the game, Hayashi had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Hayashi told the Long Island Times.
