Divided Clip Stingers, 5-4
|
In a close game at Pacesetter Park, the D.C. Divided edged the Toledo Stingers, 5-4. D.C. shortstop Eloi Hanai stood apart with his performance. He was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Juan Gutiérrez came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. D.C. is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 6th in 16 games.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Miguel Angel Criado came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Toledo pitcher Claude Richardson, he hit a 3-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting D.C. on top, 5-4.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Hanai.
