Battery Snag 4-1 Win
|
The Charleston Battery faced a tough opponent in Thunder Bay pitcher Chris Jackson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Great Northern Field by a final score of 4-1. Jackson went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Denis Jongenelen, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The loss makes the Northern Lions BC 5-9.
Charleston used a clutch hit from Eric Bowman to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Battery ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Charleston manager Matt Hunt. "Our pregame was pretty good."
