Rainbow Mermaids Take Down Flamingos, 6-5
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids topped the Las Vegas Flamingos, 6-5, in United States Silver League action at The Strip. The standout performance belonged to Northern Virginia pitcher and Silistra, Bulgaria, native Ratko Peric. Craig Brooks finished the game for Northern Virginia and earned his 14th save. The win has Northern Virginia at 37-68.

The outcome might have been different for Northern Virginia, had it not been for Rubén Cervantes, the 23-year old third baseman . Cervantes stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Northern Virginia up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Peric.
