The Panama City Piranhas defeated the Oakland Oaks, 7-5, in United States Silver League action at The Tank. Tikaroa Hakapuna pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran went 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Pat Butler earned the win to go to 9-4. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. The Piranhas saw their win-loss record go to 58-44. At the same time, the Oaks fell to 64-38.
Early in the game, first baseman Koryusai Maejima had a 3-run home run for Panama City. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Piranhas on top, 3-0.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Maejima said. "That's how it goes."
