Cattlemen Drop Rocketeers, 5-3
|
Ft. Worth third baseman A.T. Tappman had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Seattle Rocketeers, 5-3. Stu Riley got the win, improving to 5-4. He held the Rocketeers to 1 run on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Pat Martin closed it out for his 30th save.
Tappman contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Ft. Worth in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Tappman took a fastball from Fernando Marín and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Cattlemen to leap in front, 2-1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson.
After today's action, Ft. Worth sits at 55-41; Seattle slips to 50-46.
