Santos Slams 3 Deep for MSL New Orleans Tuesday, May 17th , 2050 MSL New Orleans Voodoo first baseman Pepe Santos put on a dazzling display of power today at MSL Northern Virginia Ballpark against the MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. In the 7-5 Voodoo victory Santos penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," MSL Northern Virginia manager Jaime Torres said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 17-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Santos said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Pepe Santos struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Dave Sharpe in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Tony Nieves in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Darrell Hodges in the 9th. So far on the season Santos is hitting .344 with 6 home runs, 12 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has 11 hits and played in 7 games. |
