Hagi, Whitaker Receive 3-Game Suspensions
Sunday, May 22nd , 2050
At a recent Canucks-Canonniers de Quebec contest at Foresters Stadium, Shintaro Hagi of Moose Jaw took exception to what Archie Whitaker of Canonniers de Quebec said to him and tackled him. This led to an old-fashioned bench-clearing free-for-all between the two clubs. After the umpires restored order, they ejected both players.
Today the league commissioner's office took action and suspended each player for 3 games, citing them for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct."
In 17 games this season Hagi has compiled a .169 batting average with 10 hits and 1 home run. He has also scored 13 times and knocked in 3 runs.
This year Whitaker has fashioned a 0-1 mark, 4.15 ERA and pitched 8.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .306 against him and he has logged 7 strikeouts.
