Chong Slams 3 Deep for Crowley
Thursday, July 28th , 2050
Crowley Cajuns third baseman Pyeong-chu Chong sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish, Chong told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Chong pushed the Cajuns past the Puffer Fish, 12-8. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Chong told reporters after the game.
Pyeong-chu Chong hit a solo-shot off Jerry Perry in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Jerry Perry in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jesús Ochoa in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
In 37 games this season Chong is batting .311 with 33 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 17 runs and driven in 24.
