Hawkins Powers 3 HR Against Gulf Coast Tuesday, August 9th , 2050 Fans are still buzzing after Virginia Beach whipped the Gulf Coast Turbeaus by the score of 9-5 today at Virginia Beach Grounds. Jason Hawkins smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the catcher bashed out 3 hits in 4 at-bats, had 5 RBIs and scored 3 times. At the postgame press conference, Hawkins said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Hawkins said. "Three is just... wow." Jason Hawkins hit a solo-shot off Luis Barrios in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Luis Barrios in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Curt Finley in the 8th. So far this season Hawkins is batting .247 with 6 home runs. |
