Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl Thursday, June 23rd , 2050 Yesterday at KC Academy Field Ramón Cervantes and Bryant Clark got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Athletic Club KC Academy and Ithaca Fighting Imps. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Cervantes will have to sit out 3 while Clark would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In this current campaign Cervantes is hitting at a .312 clip with no home runs and 5 RBIs. Presently Clark has a 3-1 mark in 9 starts with a 3.00 ERA. He has given up 51 hits in 57 innings, struck out 44 and issued 30 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .246 batting average against him. |
