League Punishes Pair for Fighting Saturday, September 3rd , 2050 Yesterday at Sacramento Sanitation Station Jon Himes and Robert Joubert got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Sacramento Redlegs and Hialeah Dodos. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Himes will have to sit out 3 while Joubert would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This season Himes is batting .309 with 29 hits, 5 home runs, 17 RBIs, .393 OBP and has scored 17 runs. To date this year, Joubert shows a 2-4 record, 8 starts, 42 innings, 49 strikeouts and a 6.00 ERA. |
