Valentín Hits in 20 Consecutive Games Sunday, August 21st , 2050 Sergio Valentín continued his streak at The Zoo in Syracuse today, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The Baton Rouge second baseman was 2-for-4 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 20 games. The Brass were not as fortunate, losing 5-3 to the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys. "Valentín was hitting everything we threw at him," said Syracuse manager Jorge Villanueva. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame today and we came away with a win." Sergio Valentín singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Steve Gourin in the 5th, walked in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. This year Valentín has hit at a .320 pace and produced 33 RBIs, 9 home runs and scored 46 runs. |
