League Suspends Shannon and Liang for Fisticuffs Friday, August 12th , 2050 Yesterday at KC Reserve Stadium Robert Shannon and Zuo-lin Liang got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Athletic Club KC Reserves and Syracuse Starks. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Shannon will have to sit out 4 while Liang would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In 20 games this season Shannon has compiled a .275 batting average with 11 hits and 1 home run. He has also scored 3 times and knocked in 4 runs. Liang has posted a 1-9 record for the year with a 5.99 ERA. Teams are hitting .250 against him and he has rung up 86 strikeouts in 91.2 innings. |
