Rowdy Players Suspended by League
Friday, June 10th , 2050
If there wasn't a history between MartÃn Pliego of Detroit and Mike Tate of D.C., then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 3 and 7 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.
"We're both really competitive," Pliego said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."
For the season, Pliego is hitting at a .225 clip with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and has scored 12 runs. He has 29 hits, 4 walks and a .263 on-base percentage.
This season Tate has been credited with 1 save. In 7 relief appearances and 12.1 innings he has a 0-1 won-lost mark, a 4.38 ERA and 19 strikeouts.
