Taaij's Condition Worse, Suffers Another Setback
Sunday, September 18th , 2050
"It's worse than we thought." That was the news from the Mockingbirds clubhouse today as it was learned that starting pitcher Noud Taaij will be out for an added one week as a result of a recent injury. His treatment for an elbow strain will have to be extended. Initially it didn't seem the injury was a major concern, but the Mississippi starting pitcher told team trainers of some discomfort yesterday morning, and upon examination it was determined to be a more serious injury. "We'd rather take this thing slowly and make sure Noud gets back onto the field healthy," said the team's head trainer.
Thus far this season, Taaij has tossed 118.2 innings in 18 starts, fanned 145 batters, walked 53 and put up a 3.56 ERA with 6 wins and 7 losses.
