Lakers Come Up Short at Long Island, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring clash between Long Island and Echo Park, pitcher Aaron Daniels was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 win. Daniels, now 7-8, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. John Ellis sewed up the save, his 21st.
The Lighthouse got an important contribution from first baseman Muneyaki Hayashi, who in the bottom of the third hit a splitter into left-center for a solo home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Lighthouse ahead, 2-0.
"This was a tough loss," said Echo Park manager Jordan Calhoun. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
The Lighthouse improved to 38-51.
