Kingfishers Stick Lakers with 2-1 Loss
|
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers topped the Echo Park Lakers, 2-1, in United States Silver League action at Pittsburgh Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Pittsburgh pitcher and Palmer Lake, Colorado, native Júlio Castillo. Pittsburgh pitcher Gabel Ambrosius got the win, upping his record to 3-3. Nick Altrock got the loss. Elton Ray earned the save, his 22nd, for the Kingfishers.
The Kingfishers used some clutch hitting to beat the Lakers, a good example being the at-bat of Alohinani Puanani in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, Puanani gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Winning is contagious," said Puanani. "We're looking forward to the next game."
Pittsburgh is now 44-38, while Echo Park is 40-42.
