Patriots Make It 5 Straight with 3-1 Win
|
The Boston Patriots got a strong performance from pitcher Martin Luther, who stymied the Cape Coral offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Dunkin Donuts Park. Luther, the winner, moves to 5-4. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 3 walks. Adrián Gómez earned the save for Boston, his 6th of the year.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from shortstop Cédric Dumas, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a 2-run double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Patriots on top, 2-1.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Cape Coral skipper Greg Diersing, "and it cost us."
The third-place Patriots now have a 5-game winning streak.
