Kingfishers Clip Lakers, 5-4
|
Echo Park first baseman Elijah Scott had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Scott hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Pittsburgh beat the Lakers, 5-4. Pittsburgh reliever Félix González picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Danny Kas took the loss. Picking up the save was Elton Ray, his 18th.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Alohinani Puanani to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like our moxie," said Kingfishers manager Tyler Johnson.
Pittsburgh goes to 38-29. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
