Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Battery
|
The MSL Charleston Battery beat the MSL Buckhead Bowties, 6-3, at MSL Charleston Ballpark. Campbell Vink, in particular, was impressive. He went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. MSL Charleston reliever Norberto Auíles was the winner. His record is now 4-3. The losing pitcher was Addy van der Weiden. Gerbrand Kodde was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Vink had a timely hit for MSL Charleston in the bottom of the eighth. With MSL Buckhead trailing 3-2, he turned a 0-1 fastball into a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 6-3, MSL Charleston.
In comments to the MSL Charleston Herald, Vink insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The 'W' lifts MSL Charleston's record to 16-14.
