Behind an impressive start by Gilberto Espinoza, MSL Northern Virginia beat MSL Hollywood, 4-2. Espinoza, now 4-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Antoine Caron was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Mario Peña tagged a home run off Gustave Cattarinussi in the top of the first. His solo blast put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 1-0. In all, Peña had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"I try to not think too much," said Espinoza.
At 25-19, the Rainbow Mermaids are currently first in the PL MSL.
