Kingfishers Drop Rocketeers, 3-2
|
Seattle wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Howard Randolph, falling to the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 3-2. Randolph threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Pittsburgh reliever Félix González picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ben van de Loo absorbed the loss. Earning his 14th save for Pittsburgh was Elton Ray.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Cristo López to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Seattle manager James Walker said following the tough loss.
Pittsburgh is now 33-23, while Seattle is 29-27.
