Billy Goats Prevail, 3-2, Over MSL New Orleans
|
Crowds lined up early in front of MSL Colorado Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2050 USPL Mexican Summer League season. On the mound was Ricardo Fernández for the visiting MSL New Orleans Voodoo and Freddy Rosas for the hometown MSL Colorado Billy Goats. In a spirited contest, the Billy Goats pulled out the win, defeating the Voodoo by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was Freddy Rosas. In 7 innings, Rosas surrendered 11 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Tony Ayala nailed down his 1st save.
The Billy Goats got a big at-bat from shortstop Ángel González. For the game, González went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave MSL Colorado a 3-1 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Rosas told the MSL Colorado Daily.
