Fire Need Extra Innings to Top Beavers, 5-3
|
The Franklin Fire downed the Northwest Territory Beavers, 5-3, in 10 innings. Robert Newman led the way, going 3-for-5 for Franklin. Larry Lyons, credited with the win, is now 6-3. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits. The 8th-place Fire improved to 43-50.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the tenth, with Franklin trailing 3-2, Newman hit a forkball from Andrés Hernández for a 3-run home run, giving the Fire the walk-off win.
In comments to the Franklin Today, Newman admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
