Fort Knox Makes It 13 Straight with 6-5 Win
|
Amarillo got a terrific game from first baseman Domingo Segura. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Fort Knox, 6-5. Segura went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The first-place Centennial lifted their record to 61-13.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 5-5, third baseman Sam Hayes won it for Fort Knox. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Hayes hit a 2-0 cutter from Larry Austin for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 6-5 win.
"It's great to be on a roll," said Hayes.
