Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Uruguayans
|
The Surprise Shockers got a superb performance from pitcher Xander van Dusschoten. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Germantown. The Uruguayans won the game, 4-2. van Dusschoten threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Germantown reliever Vicente Deleón was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Ivano Rashin. The Uruguayans move to 28-46 with the win, while the Shockers drop to 26-48.
Germantown needed the clutch hitting of Adrián García to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Uruguayans on top, 4-2. For the game, García had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
García told a Germantown Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
