Zoomies Topple Octopi, 6-5, as McKnight Shines
|
Shady Side beat Ogallala at Terriers Ballpark, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to designated hitter Arnie McKnight. He went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Jake Baird snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits. He's now 3-1 on the season. Rusty Collins picked up the save, his 9th.
Juan Martínez hit a run-scoring triple off Jake Hammond in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Zoomies in front, 6-5. Martínez had 2 walks, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Shady Side manager John Aston.
With the win, Shady Side has a record of 41-28. Ogallala falls to 36-33.
