Fort Knox Beats Surprise, 4-1
|
The Surprise Shockers got a superb performance from pitcher Héctor Salas, but the Fort Knox Centennial still won the game, 4-1. Salas threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Fort Knox reliever Matt Johns picked up the win, raising his record to 7-0. Nick Middleton was tagged with the loss. Earning his 7th save for Fort Knox was Jorge Vásquez.
Fort Knox used a clutch hit from Jean Kools to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Centennial ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Kools.
Fort Knox has now won 3 straight, while the Shockers have lost 3 in a row.
