Germantown picked up a win at Ballpark of Albuquerque, bumping off the Ogallala Octopi, 6-3. Pitcher Juan Cervantes was a major reason the Uruguayans emerged victorious. In 6 innings, Cervantes surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Manuel Pérez got credit for the save for Germantown. It was his 2nd of the year.
Junior Aranda went 1-2 with a walk for Germantown. In the bottom of the fifth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Aranda delivered for the Uruguayans. His run-scoring walk put Germantown on top, 3-2.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Aranda told a Germantown Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
Germantown, with the win, climbs to 18-38.
