Shockers Get 8-7 Win Versus Ogallala
|
The Surprise Shockers did just enough to sneak past the Ogallala Octopi, 8-7, at Shockers Field. Surprise third baseman Monte Davis, in particular, had a standout performance. Surprise reliever Raúl Nieves picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Rubén Montalvo shouldered the loss. Ivano Rashin earned the save, his 3rd.
Had Ron Stitt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Stitt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Shockers.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Stitt.
Surprise, at 11-17, sits in 7th place in the Silver Low A.
