Shockers Knock Off Gators, 5-1
|
The Surprise Shockers got a stellar performance from pitcher Héctor Salas, who handcuffed the North Ft. Myers offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Shockers Field. Salas, now 1-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Andrew Charles earned save number 2 this season.
The Shockers got an important contribution from shortstop Harry McLymont, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a slider into left for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Shockers ahead, 3-1.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Salas told the Surprise Daily News.
The Shockers now have a record of 10-14 with the win over North Ft. Myers.
