Shockers Beat Ogallala, 3-2
|
The Surprise Shockers did just enough to secure a victory over the Ogallala Octopi, 3-2, at Nebraska Aquarium. Nobody did more than pitcher Xander van Dusschoten. Carlos González earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. Chris Stone recorded the save, his 3rd.
Surprise needed the clutch hitting of José Cortéz to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Shockers on top, 3-1. For the game, Cortéz had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Surprise manager John Walls.
Ogallala now has a record of 9-4.
