Warheads Snatch Late Win
|
Amarillo took on Surprise in front of a lively crowd.
The Amarillo Warheads faced a tough opponent in Surprise pitcher Iván Cruz, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Shockers Field by a final score of 7-4. Cruz went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ed Wheeler earned save number 3 this season.
Amarillo got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Bobby Bailey. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Warheads ahead, 5-4. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.
Bailey told a Amarillo Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The loss drops Surprise to 2-7.
